How did you get started with roleplaying?

Neopets, YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS ago

 

I love animals - looked for animal games and then stumbled on a horse RP aged 10, have rped on and off since then

 

I was a fan of Teen Titans and found a site on Invisionfree called The Raven Shrine. It had an RP section and that's where it all started.

 

HMM... tough question. i started on this finnish horse owning simulator called tallini, roleplaying fantasy wolves, i think! those were the times. it was chat roleplay.

 

Through a friend of mine! We shared a similar obsession over a tv show and she brought me onto some forums she was playing. Had a wonderful time with her. She's not on any boards anymore with life priorities getting in the way but we still talk all the time ♥

 

When I was about fourteen my best friend at the time started and X-men RPG my first OC was basically the invisible woman but a man from then on I was HOOKED!!

 

For me I got started roleplaying on forums and it was Roswell that I first started roleplaying and then later changed to Smallville and eventually Supernatural for a time before I moved onto Twilight and then eventually back to the DC and Marvel fandoms which I've pretty much stuck to since.

 

I started for real on Gaia Online. We wrote forum style rp. Post by post. It was quite enjoyable.

 

Neopets as well! Suprised to see I'm not the only one lol.

 

I found an avidgamers site utilizing google, looking for something more like FlightRising or Horseland. xD Even as a young person I loved writing, and was immediately drawn into the vast multitude of wonderful written forum worlds. Been here on and off ever since.

 

Haha, the first time I started RPing, it was several years ago. I literally googled 'virtual warriors world' and the first link that popped out to me was a ProBoards site that was welcoming and friendly. I've only recently stopped RPing on it, but that's because I've moved onto greener pastures and it just doesn't hold that same spark I felt 7 years ago.

However, I certainly haven't stopped RPing! It's something I adore because I find new friends that have similar likes and dislikes to me.

 

My first foray into RP was on a now defunct gaming site. There was a section for 2-3 sentence action and reactions. Not a proper RP, more a game. I fell in love with the concept and writing grew from there.

 

I started on a site called RPGTalk. I was a typical Mary Sue that used the *action here* "Speech Here" one liner posts. I was horrible.

 

The Lion King Chat room. Yeah....shame.

 

Oh jeeze. Dragon Ball Z here, almost 20 years ago at Comiccity.com, which no longer exists. Annnd now I feel old.

 

Dragon Ball Z in AOL chat rooms. That migrated to a forum/chat hybrid thing, back to chat rooms. Later, the people I used to do AOL DBZ/Sailor Moon chats with lead me to a Sailor Moon forum, which is where I first got involved with true collaborative writing with plots just as much as a focus as everything else. From there, I found an X-Men board, and I've been hooked ever since.

 

I used to be on deviantART a bunch and found chat rooms for roleplaying in series that I really liked at the time. Everything seems to have just snowballed from there.

 

I too was on the Neopets bandwagon when I first started. I certainly don't miss the days of refreshing a page every three minutes for updates and multi-part posts because of text limits!

 

Way back in the day with yahoo and AIM chat forums. lol Then ended up doing tabletop games and went from there.

 

my first taste of online forum rp was actually in the wolf genre when i was a lot younger (i mean like 9 or 10) and was also just getting into anime/manga with an obsession w/the series wolf's rain

i don't think i expanded out of wolf rps for several years thereafter in all honesty
