The Island of Atlas
Original

Original historical fiction based on ancient Greece

Welcome to the Island of Atlas — a kingdom built on the hard work and sweat of the generations before you. A kingdom that has pushed itself far past what anyone would have dared imagine possible and has become an independent and self-sufficient kingdom. For many decades, this great empire have suffered through various hardships, only to come out on the other side victorious.

A Kingdom on the verge of change as the current king is growing old — talks of his only male successor, Prince Percey of Vasilakis, taking over the throne, but not all are in agreement. Many think the young prince far too young — too inexperienced — to hold such a power in his hands. Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. And as the senate moves forward, our young prince is killed — rumored to have been murdered — and lost at sea. In the midst of this chaos, the King of Atlas makes a hasty move to regain control and hope is once again renewed as it is announced that the king's eldest daughter, Princess Phoebe of Vasilakis is to be married to her cousin, Elias of Vasilakis.

Forced to a sudden standstill, the future of Atlas hangs in the balance as preparations are made.

Some of the noble houses have voiced their concerns regarding the union, claiming that there are much finer bachelors available that would be better suited to sit upon the throne of Atlas and wear its crown.

For the last six generations, Atlas have been ruled by house Vasilakis, and a male member of the house has since then sat upon the throne. However, there have been recent rumors of a threat in the shadows: Someone, though they don't know who, is planning to make a move towards the throne and take it for themselves. Naturally, to the public eye, the Vasilakis have brushed this off as mere speculation as their entire focus is on the potential union between a princess and a lord — both of royal blood.

As a character in this world, you hold the power to shift the game. With the pieces set on the board, what will your move be?
