9 ABY – Our Story Begins
In this year, Grand Admiral Thrawn returns from the duties that had been placed upon him by the previous Emperor. When he does so, he brings with him the might and glory of the former Empire, and the excellence of combat that one expects from a Chiss Grand Admiral. He summarily defeats the Republic and its forces at every turn, up to the point where he captures the might of the Katana Fleet, sweeping it out from under the hands of the New Republic.
Thrawn’s Noghri bodyguard attempts to kill the Grand Admiral, but Thrawn has seen it coming for some time and has been prepared. He kills the Noghri before the death blow can be struck. With this attempt on the leader of the returned Empire’s life, the Noghri are shunned from the Empire and promptly defect to the New Republic.
10 ABY
The Galactic Empire, under the direction of Thrawn, recaptures Coruscant from the New Republic. The worlds around the core are systematically conquered by the Empire, which forces the New Republic out of their previous home territory. They set up their new capital on the world of Naboo, far from the reaches of the core worlds.
11 -19 ABY
Thrawn’s military prowess and understanding of his enemies allows the might of the Galactic Empire to return to dominance in the galaxy as he conquers one system after another until the Galactic Empire once again spans over the majority of the galaxy. The New Republic has been pressed back to a small sector of space surrounding Naboo and Endor. Despite their newly constructed shipyards, the Republic hasn’t been able to produce the ship capacity that the Empire can. They have struggled.
Ackbar is killed in battle. Han Solo is killed in battle. Jacen and Jaina Solo are both captured by the Empire, imprisoned, tortured, and executed as enemies of the state. Luke Skywalker disappears into the Unknown Regions, never to be seen or heard from again. Leia soon dies as the grief is just too much for her. Anakin Solo becomes a conduit for his namesake, falls into despair at the loss of his family, and begins a personal war against the Empire for what they had done to him and his family. Thrawn retires, leaving the running of the Empire to his junior officers.
20 ABY – Rise of the Warlords
Anakin Solo’s rage against the Empire ignites a galactic firestorm. Various new Moffs, in response to his affronts, and with the stepping down of Thrawn, separate themselves from the Empire, taking the forces previously charged with defending their sectors and pitting them against one another in an effort to claim the Empire as their own. Much as the previous warlord era had done, this fractures the might of the Empire, subsequently weakening them, but Anakin Solo is still defeated by the Empire’s Dark Jedi soldiers and ultimately perishes.
21 ABY – Present Time
The fracture of the Empire is complete. The True Galactic Empire retains control of the Core worlds and a few other planetary clusters. The space between the major galactic governments is now open territory as the warlords have pitted themselves against each other to the point of collapse. Will the Empire rise to glory again, or will the Republic sweep in? Or is that shadow looming in the galactic northeast going to rise to power and destroy them all? Only time will tell.
