    Hello RPGfix!

I'm Yaz and it's a pleasure to be here.

A little about myself. I've been RP'ing for just over 12 years now. I started in Neopets back in the day and found my niche in wolves where I was eventually lead to forum based RP's. In my wolf days Anatole, Distant Whispers, From the Ashes, Wild Wolf Society, Wyldernis, Ire and a few others were my stomping grounds. As of recent I've lost interest in wolves and have ventured back into human based genres. Urban Fantasy seems to be my current sweet spot and I'm happily married to Risk.

In real life, I'm a Phoenix, AZ based college graduate who currently works as an Interactive Designer. While my talents lay mostly in design and UX, I dabble in front end development and am always willing to learn more technical knowledge. (Speaking of which, I'm curious to hear how forums these days are "going mobile".) I enjoy reading, writing, cooking and country dancing. Love me some two-steppin'.

    Alas, enough about me.

It's really nice to meet ya!

Woo, welcome Yaz! Seems like the old wolf roleplaying community is slowly leaking into this place. :)

What's your favourite thing about the urban fantasy genre?

Hiya! Thanks for the welcome. And yes! I do see a lot of familiar faces. :]

    Urban Fantasy... Hmm... Let's see...

Honest? I think my favorite aspect of it is that they're typically alternative reality. You get all the conveniences and quirks of modern times with the added fantasy bonus that keeps things interesting.

For instance, consider a dragon wearing human form and ordering coffee from Starbucks only to find out the coffee's served cold. Imagine the frustration of wanting to warm it up with a little fire, but knowing shifting to dragon form would not only be too large for the building, but the general human population might not react so kindly.

I also currently have a shapeshifter character who's girlfriend has no idea the stray cat she took in, is him. Considering the fact pets get to witness and hear a lot of what they'd never reveal or allow to humans, the scenario sets itself up for all kinds of fun which is sure to double back around and bite him in the butt later.

I originated with wolves, but got bored. This new niche allows me to keep some of those animal instincts and add an additional layer of interest. A lot of my animal characters translated to supernaturals almost seamlessly.

For anyone looking to branch out of an animal genre, I highly recommend giving it a try.

That sounds absolutely wonderful, really. :3 In a way, it's taking anthropomorphizing animals to an extreme and making the characters that much more versatile. It'd make for some really interesting times I'm sure. ^_^

Urban Fantasy is my weak spot too. Welcome aboard. Let me know if you find any good U.F. forums. : )
