Your favourite roleplay genres?

I prefer supernatural rp, dark fairy tales, and sometimes stretch into western or pirates.

 

Lately low medieval fantasy exclusively. However, in the past I really have enjoyed dystopian, rp, high fantasy, modern fantasy, some harry potter (but only AU, pre or post potter)... really I can get into quite a lot of genres. I do not typically go for fandoms though.

 

I usually prefer fandoms. Original sites usually mean a LOT of lore reading before I can think of the type of character I want which I don't like. OR it means I have a character in mind but the site ends up having limitations that make the character not possible. At least with fandoms, I know what to expect. :D

 

Superhero or some other roleplay with a canon. Entirely OC settings are awesome but then i have to learn a whole new set of how things work; interesting, but time consuming, and time is something I don't have a ton of these days.

 

Definitely original. I just can't stand fandom RPs. Others can enjoy them, sure, but not me. Aside from that, the more original and unique, the better.

 

I love love *love* fantasy-based roleplays and honestly any Harry Potter roleplays.

 

I enjoy Supernatural-Horror RPG (anything World of Darkness will do), and sci-fi (Star Wars and Firefly, most of all!)

 

Non-canon fandom mostly. Fandoms I like or would like to RP are...

1. Final Fantasy
2. NieR
3. Pokemon (maybe, never properly RP'd it)
4. Persona
4. Tokyo Ghoul
5. Legend of Zelda (Zora band, hooo!)
6. Suikoden
7. Rune Factory
And a bunch of others.

I really like it when there's some sort of prejudice in the setting/theme, too, like elves versus humans, YoRHa versus machine, etc.

 

Star Trek for me, with attempts in a couple of other sci-fi genres. Not to say I wouldn't give something else a chance.

 

I mostly enjoy Romance/slice of life

 

Fantasy for me, all the way.

 

I know of two really good Persona RP forums...though they're both going through a weird transition to new sites because they were originally on Zetaboards and the Tapatalk-alypse kinda screwed everything up.

 

I've delved into a lot of historical stuff lately, and I've gotta say, it's fast becoming one of my favourite genres. I think there's an added enjoyment to it because it can involve a lot of research on my part to ensure things make sense within the context and, for whatever reason, I really like that in the sites I join.

Most of my experience has been in Harry Potter type boards, although I prefer them to be wholly non-canon and not set in a particular period of HP history, and I'm quite keen on fantasy sites as well. The best sites I've ever been on by far were fantasy sites, and there was one which was a sort of "fairy tale characters in the modern world" thing which was honestly amazing.

 

I love fantasy. I have a background in Marvel, with some fandoms. I've tried dirties, apocalyptic, and time period stuff. Overall I like fantasy best. It gives me more room to create. I have created my own breed of characters and used my past experience to make them semi realistic and believable.

 

I agree. A fairytale in a modern setting makes you think how to translate old beliefs, into the current world and add twists.

 

I prefer original or AU-based roleplays if its in an existing setting (see: I play Warriors often, but its like an offshoot where the original series didn't happen) but just because that encourages making new original characters, or tying your character to one already existing in the game, rather than trying to have your character realted to/similar to the main character or notable characters in previous series.

I like all things fantasy, and dark stuff too, when I'm in the mood for it. Mostly though, I like magic and animal related RPs. Not for any particular reason I think, just because.

 

I'm really into Marvel right now, specifically X-Men, and to a lesser degree MCU. In the past I have also enjoyed supernatural/urban fantasy, crime, and cyberpunk.

 

I tend to enjoy fandoms or fantasy based RP

 

My favorite RP genres would be Fantasy and Mythical. As well as fandoms. lol

I don't play humans any more since I like playing with my custom witch race. XD But I would like to try out animal rps one day.
